Bryan helped coached me from over 1000 miles away. I had a sprinting and jumping background in high school and college. Then, years later, at 28-29 years old I went from starting his 5K training plan in July to winning my first 5k race in September of the same year! Since then I have excelled in distances ranging from 5k to half marathons. -CHRIS, Morris Plains NJ
I'm not a runner. At least that was what I told myself for years. When I embraced a healthier lifestyle some years back in terms of eating and weights, cardio remained my Achilles. Stamina held me back and I quickly gave in at the first signs of pain from pushing myself. In hindsight, it was more mental than physical shortcomings, but I didn't become enlightened to this until I met Bryan. Bryan invited me out on a run along the Appalachian Trail near his home after I inquired about his training regimen. I assumed this would be a one and done trip, but Bryan invested in my running career on that one jog. He inspected my shoes and informed me of the ideal style of shoe to benefit my stride. He recommended a store in the area where he knew the staff would take care of me. He emailed me ideas for pre-run snacks, post-run fuel and some of his favorite recipes to complement a running lifestyle. In short, he was a coach for where ever or however long I wanted to take this. There was never any pressure involved. He was willing to give only as much as I wanted. Bryan is supportive through and through and wants the best for you in whatever endeavor you choose. In my case, it was companionship on the trail with the occasional motivational speech to push me through a tough stretch. When I signed up for a 5K, Bryan was there every step of the way from training to the finish line. Before we began training, I would have had no business trotting anywhere near the front half of the pack, but the boost he provided in the upcoming weeks and on race day were enough to have me finish in the Top 5. He was equally as jubilant as I was on that morning. Bryan is a born motivator and is happiest when playing an integral part in helping others achieve their goals. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, so will he. -PATRICK, Philadelphia PA
Bryan and I were teammates in college, and even though he was a distance runner and I was a sprinter, it was easy for me to see the width and breadth of his knowledge when it came to the sport of running. If I was doing a longer workout to build up my stamina, I could count on him to give me some tips on my form and stride, just as I could count on him to help me develop workouts during the off-season for when I really wanted to push myself. I've since transitioned to running longer distances, and Bryan helped me ease into it and never let me get down when I wasn't seeing the results I wanted. And that's the best thing I can say about working with Bryan: As an athlete, you're going to hold yourself to the highest possible standard. Bryan believes in that, but he understands that everyone is going to develop at their own rate and there will be setbacks. He's always challenged me, but he's also always been there to point out the positives when I felt as if I could have done better. We're separated by a few states now, but I still count on him to provide me with new workouts, answers to questions, and, of course -- the support that every runner needs. -JEFF, West Chester PA
As someone who prefers playing nearly any game to running of any kind, I was skeptical about committing to a training regime. Bryan’s educated nudges and relentless positivity soon had me looking forward to workouts. After PR’s in the mile and 5k (at age 49) and all kinds of learning about nutrition, physiology and training principles, I am hooked – and immensely grateful for Bryan’s expertise, generosity and care. He truly loves helping others chase their goals. -MICHAEL, Chapel Hill NC
I'm proud to say Bull City Coaching helped me become a runner for the first time in my life at age 30. I always considered myself athletic, until I started training for my 1st half marathon. I Googled all the information I thought I needed to properly train myself for a half, but quickly found myself behind the eight ball. Bryan was referred to me by one of my closest friends, and figured I would reach out to him for some coaching advice. Bryan’s immediate attention to detail showed me how much he really cared about helping others reach their goals. With Bryan’s help, I finished my first half marathon under my goal, and I look forward to working with him again, as I started training for my 2nd half last week.
